Jess qualified from Edinburgh's Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in 2011 and spent her first 2 years working in a busy small animal hospital, where she developed a keen interest in small animal surgery. She moved to the North East in 2014 to continue to build on her surgical experience, gaining her certificate in small animal surgery in 2017.

Jess joined a referral multidisciplinary small animal hospital in 2016, taking up the role of Head of Surgery in 2022. Whilst happy to get involved in all aspects of small animal surgery, Jess's main passion is soft tissue surgery, in particular minimally invasive surgery and thoracic surgery.
